The calculated overhang above the windows shining into the kitchen. This is on the south face of the house. This image was taken in mid-November. The shadow line near the top of the windows shows how the sun is blocked from shining in during the summer, but allowed in during the winter for heat. As the winter solstice approaches, more of the window is exposed to sunlight.
